Hartpury is a world-leading equestrian centre, and its equine research team had a great deal to offer businesses. What they didn’t have was a way to show it. As Hartpury College became Hartpury University, I helped the team create their first ever marketing materials to win commercial partners and grow their income.

The challenge
The team needed to generate income from commercial partnerships, but they had never had their own marketing collateral. With the move to university status, it was the right moment to raise awareness of their services and answer one question for every prospective partner: why choose Hartpury?
Finding the value
I worked with the team to understand their offer in depth, and the value it adds for different types of organisation. The answer was compelling. Hartpury gives businesses a unique place to test, develop and launch new products and services quickly, with unrivalled access to horses and riders for testing, scientists to design credible research, and industry professionals to support innovation.
To back this up, we drew up case studies as evidence and spoke to existing partners for quotes, so prospective partners could hear the benefits from organisations like their own.
What I created
- An updated website setting out the offer for each type of partner
- A printed brochure, the team’s first piece of dedicated marketing collateral
- Pop-up banners for the team to take to industry events
The result
The team were incredibly happy. For the first time they had their own brand and materials that reflected the integrity of their offer, and they went to events feeling confident about what they could do for partners.
That confidence paid off: the team gained new business and increased their annual sales.
This was the start of a rapidly growing equine research facility, attracting commercial partners and funding for new facilities in equine therapy and rehabilitation.
